Summary
This exhibition makes us dream about a crossroads of civilizations, in the heart of Central Asia, in Uzbekistan, where of course the names of Samarkand and Bukhara resonate. But many other market oases in this country have revealed works that are now classified as world heritage sites.
This deeply human history is enriched, along the route, with 3D views of major archaeological sites now almost forbidden, transporting the visitor to the heart of this land of legends.
For the first time in France, an exhibition event is devoted to the life of the Buddha and the spread of Buddhism in Asia. The exhibition highlights the wealth of iconographic and stylistic traditions relating to the representation of the exemplary and edifying life of the founder of Buddhism.
Conceived on a transversal mode, the exhibition confronts the modes of artistic expression of the different cultural areas of Asia and reveals their similarities and originality, to better highlight the diversity and richness of Asian arts. Articulated around the great "miracles" of the life of the Blessed (birth, awakening, first sermon, access to nirvana), the exhibition allows you to admire a representative set of works from the MNAAG collections and to understand through illustration episodes from the life of the Buddha.
